Tehran: Iran will give a more crushing response to any new act of war against the country, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesman Hossein Mohebbi warned on Monday.
Noting that Iran does not rule out the possibility of war, Mohebbi said that if attacks resume, the United States will face enormous trouble in that case, and even a limited US action will lead to a severe global energy crisis.
The spokesman also said that if Iran is not safe, the region will no longer be safe.
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US bases and assets in the region, and tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire was achieved between the warring parties on April 8. On June 18, Iran and the United States signed an MoU on ending the war in the region on all fronts.
Under the MoU, the two countries were scheduled to hold negotiations within 60 days, ending on August 17, to reach a final agreement on Iran's nuclear program and the removal of sanctions. However, they have so far failed to make sufficient progress toward a long-term deal.
